Rachel DeLoache Williams is Anna's best friend, who gets scammed out of thousands of dollars.
History[]
Spending Time with Anna[]
At some point in 2017 or earlier, Rachel met and started hanging out with Anna. According to Neff, when they hung out, Anna paid for everything, which Rachel seemed to enjoy. Neff arranged for the three of them to see personal trainer Kacy Duke. They did an intense session with her coaching them. When they were done, Neff was exhausted, while Rachel said she thought it was easy if you keep your body in shape. Kacy heard her say this and told her to be kind, prompting her to apologize to Neff.
After this, the four of them started hanging out together, going to clubs and enjoying the infrared sauna.[1]
Trip to Morocco[]
Anna decided she wanted to take a trip to La Mamounia after seeing one of the Kardashians' Instagram posts about it. She invited Rachel along and Rachel immediately began making arrangements for their travel. They also invited Kacy to go along and Noah to document the trip. When they arrived in Morocco, Rachel was excited to see all the places from Khloé's posts and took many selfies with Anna. Rachel asked repeatedly to go to the YSL gardens, but Anna said she didn't want to leave the resort, which had everything they needed. That night at dinner, Kacy got sick and had to go home the next morning.
Shortly after Kacy's departure, staff from the resort told Anna they needed a new form of payment. If they couldn't provide them, they'd be escorted off the premises. Rachel picnicked and offered to put down a card to use as a hold until Anna could get her banking sorted out.
Anna then finally agreed to go to the YSL gardens like Rachel wanted. When they finished the tour, they were shocked at the large cost. Anna said she was still sorting out things with her bank, so she couldn't pay and neither could Noah. Rachel then asked if they could go back to the resort to get her card so she could pay. A guard from YSL accompanied them as they did this.
Back at the resort, Adilah told them she couldn't let them take the card without a replacement card. Desperate, Rachel put her work card down with the resort after the assured her it wouldn't be charged and took her personal card back to pay YSL. Then Adilah told them she couldn't let them leave until she had a card she was authorized to charge. Rachel got her to agree to let one of them go to pay YSL. Rachel returned to YSL, but her card was declined. She called American Express and explained her situation. They asked her how much they needed to authorize to get her out of Morocco safely. Once that was handled, she returned to the resort and told Noah it was taken care of. He in turn told her they needed to leave, immediately and without Anna. Rachel then went and packed her things and she and Noah returned to New York. Anna stayed in Morocco for another week.
When Kacy ended up buying Anna a ticket back to New York, she talked to Rachel and asked her what had happened in Morocco. Rachel said that she and Noah had left without Anna and Rachel's work card was charged for $62,000 before she was able to cancel it. Rachel then helped Kacy cut Anna off when Anna asked for help beyond what Kacy was willing to offer.[2]
Attempts to Get Repaid[]
Rachel reached out to Anna to ask her to wire the money to pay the bill. Rachel then returned to work, where she told Noah about Anna charging her work card. She also told him she was sure Anna would pay it. Over several months, she reached out to Anna on multiple occasions, but Anna repeatedly made excuses for why the money hadn't been sent. The stress started to get to Rachel and her performance at work suffered. She had also used up all of her money making the minimum payments on the card. She also bonded with Noah over her stress. She told him she wasn't sure how much longer she would be able to keep her work from finding out. Despite this, she still considered Anna to be a friend. Finally, Anna sent her a payment, but it was only $5000, much less than what she owed. At the same time, Linda warned her that she knew about the unpaid balance and told Rachel to get it paid before Marco did his quarterly checks. Rachel reached out to Anna asking for the rest of the money. When this didn't happen, Rachel ended up telling Linda what had happened. Linda said she had to turn Anna in for fraud, but Rachel refused.
Rachel finally got a hold of Anna, who promised to leave a cashier's check at The W for her. Rachel was excited, but that was short-lived because she arrived at The W to find that Anna had been arrested for not paying her bill and hadn't left the check for Rachel.
Rachel went to Kacy, whose client Nicole got involved in the situation and they decided to host an intervention, with the intent of convincing Anna to call her parents and tell them she needed their help. They held the intervention but Anna left after they confronted her.
With no other options, Rachel went to the police precinct and tried to report Anna. The police laughed at her, because she admitted that she wasn't coerced to pay the bill and she had received the services. She admitted to them that she didn't know what to do, so they told her to start a GoFundMe and get better friends.
The bill remained unpaid and Rachel met with Marco and Linda, who said that she showed poor judgment and they were investigating her involvement. If the investigation concluded that she was involved, they would be calling the police. When she said that she hadn't been the one to charge the card, they reminded her that she freely admitted to using the services that had been charged to the card.
After this meeting, Rachel told Noah that she felt like an idiot for letting all of it happened. She then decided that if Anna wanted drama, Rachel would give it to her.
Back at work, Rachel met with HR, who suspended her pending the result of the investigation. She said she couldn't lose her job. Then she told them that she was entitled to a lawyer and they failed to inform her that she was entitled to an independent representative for the meeting. As she left the building, Rachel said she was finally standing up for herself.
From there, Rachel went to the district attorney's office, where she told Catherine McCaw about Anna.[3]
Helping the Cops and Anna's Arrest[]
Rachel became frustrated when she saw on Anna's social media that she was in LA. She went to McCaw to complain and ask why the police couldn't just go arrest her when there was a warrant. McCaw told her there were about ten million outstanding bench warrants country-wide and Anna's case wasn't her highest priority. McCaw also told her that Anna might have stolen from some banks, but they were keeping it quiet because it would embarrass some powerful people. McCaw assured Rachel they weren't ignoring her or what happened to her.
Rachel went out with Neff and Kacy and complained about the cops being useless as they looked at Anna's social media. Kacy said she wasn't letting Anna take anything else from her and advised Rachel to do the same.
Instead of doing that, Rachel flew to LA, where she called Anna and asked to get lunch together. Anna asked Rachel to pick her up, but when Anna left her treatment facility, she was arrested, as Rachel had informed the police where she would be.[4]
When the paper reported that Anna had been arrested, Rachel talked to Kacy on the phone, who was surprised, and wondered how they caught her. Kacy said it was karma, that the universe corrects wrongs.[5] When Rachel admitted to being with Anna when she was arrested, Neff found it shady.[6]
After Anna decided not to take the plea deal offered to her, Neff came to Rachel, suggesting they take turns visiting Anna so at least once a week, one of them was there. Rachel said she wouldn't be visiting Anna, which angered Neff, who felt she was turning on Anna because Anna wasn't paying her way anymore. They argued and Rachel said at least she and Anna were friends, while Neff was her paid bitch. Neff was incensed by this remark, daring Rachel to say more about Anna purchasing a Black woman. Rachel instead turned and ran away.[7]
Vanity Fair Article[]
Rachel sold her own article, a first-person account of her relationship with Anna, to Vanity Fair, who published it before Vivian was able to finish her article.[8]
Anna's Trial and Rachel's Book[]
After Anna's trial started, Neff started an Instagram account to post pictures of Anna's court outfits. When Kacy and Rachel got a drink, Rachel told her that the followers were starting to her harass her, which scared her. She was worried everyone would hate her after her testimony, but Kacy told her just to tell her story.
The next day, Rachel took the stand and told the jury everything that happened with Anna and how it affected her life. She explained that she chose to monetize her experience because she was in debt, but also because she was stuck and wanted to get it all down on paper.
The next day, Todd questioned her about her time with Anna and all the many ways she was making money off selling her story. Rachel started to cry and told him she wished she'd never met Anna.
As Rachel left, she ran into Kacy, who confronted her over turning Anna in. Rachel said she had to in order to get reimbursed, but Kacy saw it as her profiting off ratting out a friend, especially after Rachel said that Amex had already taken care of her credit card balance.
Rachel went back to the courtroom for the verdict. Anna was found guilty on all but two counts, one of which was the one regarding Rachel. After it was read, Rachel walked out.
In the aftermath of the verdict, Rachel started promoting her book, which she promised would have the real story.[9]
