Lane is a prosecutor who worked on Anna's case with Catherine McCaw.
History[]
Anna's Plea Deal[]
Lane was selected to work on the case against Anna Sorokin. They worked with Catherine McCaw. McCaw put together a deal and offered Anna four years conditional parole with deportation. Anna said she'd take it, but when she appeared before the judge, she said she wanted to be heard in court. McCaw and Lane were both shocked by this change.[1]
Once Anna decided to go to trial, Todd began to prepare his defense. When he saw that McCaw had only sent over one box of discovery, he went to her and Lane and demanded they send everything they had. McCaw said she was acting within the law and would continue to do so, but sent over a truck full of boxes.[2]
Anna's Trial[]
On the first day of Anna's trial, McCaw saw Baxter from the DA's office in the courtroom and told Lane that he was a proxy for the DA. Todd gave his opening statement, which Lane said was bold.
As the trial progressed, Lane and McCaw talked about how the Instagram account tracking Anna's outfits was shifting the narrative on Anna. Lane was worried about how it would affect McCaw, but McCaw said she was only worried about how she would remember it for the rest of her life if she lost a single count.
At the end of the trial, Anna was found guilty on all but two charges.[3]
