Chase Sikorski is Anna's ex-boyfriend.
History[]
Early Life[]
He grew up in Ohio.[1]
Dating Anna[]
In August 2013, Anna was in the audience when Chase gave a TEDx talk about sleep and his company Wake, which he said could help people harness the power of their dreams. Soon after this talk, Chase and Anna began seeing each other. Chase had money coming into his company, so he paid for everything.
In September 2014, Chase and Anna were together, scrolling through Instagram, when Chase noticed a picture of a yacht in Anna's feed. Anna said it belonged to Henrick Knight, whom Chase recognized as being big in tech. He told Anna to text Talia and tell her they were in Ibiza. When she did so, Talia invited them to come to dinner on Hen's yacht. Chase told Anna to tell her they were busy that night, but could come the following night. He then booked tickets for the two of them.
When they arrived in Ibiza, they were ferried out to the yacht, where Talia greeted them and introduced them to Hen, Bryce, and Steve Lagos. Hen immediately invited Chase to take a tour of the yacht. Later in the day, Chase talked to Hen about Wake, pitching him the business. Talia tried to get him to stop, but Anna stepped in and suggested that Hen's hesitance was because he was too old to appreciate what Chase was trying to do. Her speech worked and Hen invested $100,000 into Wake. Because Anna had helped him secure that key investment, he asked her to be his partner, which she said she would consider. After the party ended, everyone left the yacht and said goodbye. However, Chase and Anna then ended up back on the yacht, where they stayed for another week until Talia called and told them to leave.
From there, Chase and Anna went to Paris and met up with Val Boron. Behind the scenes of one of Val's shows, they started to fight about Wake and money. Anna said she didn't want to be involved with Wake, but didn't know what she wanted to do yet. The fight ended with Chase calling Anna a psycho and Anna leaving with Val.
Chase later called Val, asking him to check Anna's passport, because he believed Anna was lying to him about things. When Anna and Val ended up locked out of their hotel room because of lack of payment, they ended up calling Chase to come pay the bill. Chase did so and they rekindled their romance. When Anna left to go shopping, Val told Chase he'd done as Chase asked and learned that her last named wasn't Delvey, but Sorokin, and she was born outside Moscow.
Chase told Anna what Val had said and the two of them left together, shunning Val for going through Anna's bag, even though he said Chase had told him to. When they got back to New York, Anna told Chase she wanted to create her own club, where people like her would have a place to belong. But she needed people not to question who she was. Chase told her they wouldn't.[2]
Back in New York, Chase and Anna went back to Nora's house. When she asked where Val was, they told her he'd gone to Alabama to see his dad, which surprised her.
Nora immediately started helping Chase find investors for his app. Chase also helped Anna find people to help her build Anna Delvey Foundation. Anna became frustrated when Chase was able to get investors but Anna wasn't having much luck. They fought because Anna wanted the connections he was getting through Nora. Chase said that Nora's passion was supporting minority entrepreneurs and she didn't seem to like Anna much anyway. Despite this, Anna actively courted Nora's attention, leading to Nora switching her attention from Chase to Anna, which Chase didn't like.
Chase told Anna he'd been invited to Berlin for an Open Air, so he left town. However, Anna later learned that Open Air had been cancelled, so she called Chase to confront him about the lie. She tracked him to his parents' house in Ohio and went there to see him. Chase was surprised to see Anna. She was upset with him for being dishonest about his history. He confessed to her that he'd gone to Ohio because he ran out of money and still had no app to show for it. He begged Anna not to say anything, because she was about to get a $2 million investment from one of Nora's friends.
They returned to Manhattan, where Chase became upset when Nora asked for the company records, which revealed that Wake was failing. When Nora took Anna to a fundraiser Chase was originally supposed to attend with her, Chase went anyway and they fought. He asked for 40% of ADF, but she refused to give anything to him. To Chase's surprise, Anna left Nora's place that same night.[3]
In 2016, Chase stopped posting on Instagram and functionally disappeared from social media.[4]
Interview with Vivian[]
When Vivian spoke to Rafael Stukken, he told her that Chase was living in Dubai and working for the Sheikh. He told Rafael he only believed in face-to-face communication, but Rafael thought that was just his way of avoiding his investors. Vivian shared this with Maud, who had spent some time in Dubai and knew where Chase might be staying there. While Vivian looked for Chase, she also found a way to contact his parents. She did so and her mother said Chase hadn't been home in years and wouldn't want her speaking to a reporter about him. When Vivian pressed, she admitted to having met Anna. She then kept trying to reach Chase. She finally told him that what she had for the story so far indicated that he was the real con artist and Anna was just along for the ride. She could print that or he could talk to her and she could leave his name out of it. He agreed to talk to her, but didn't want to be named.[5]
When Vivian's article came out, it quickly became one of Manhattan Magazine's most popular articles ever, which drew a lot of commentary. Chase watched a video from Buzzfeed in which they dream cast the characters in the article. Chase was upset when they cast Michael Cera as him.[6]
Relationships[]
Romantic[]
He dated Anna Delvey for months. They broke up when Chase, after realizing Wake wasn't going to lead to anything, asked for 40% of ADF, which Anna refused to give him.[7]
Familial[]
His parents live in Ohio. His mother immigrated from Canada when she was two.[8]
Friendships[]
He was friends with Nora Radford until Anna Delvey tipped Nora off that Chase had squandered his investors' money and had no app to show for it.[9]
Career[]
He founded a company called Wake, which declared its intent to harness the power of people's dreams. This business failed because he spent the investors' money on a lavish lifestyle and focused more on making the app look good than making it function. When it failed, he left the US to get away from his investors and began working for the Sheikh in Dubai.
